Authority Summaries

Prepared by Taylor Eaton

Your authority is how you are designed to make decisions in Human Design. It is your inner-voice/inner-guidance. Below are very brief summaries of each authority.

Emotional Authority

You have emotional “waves” - your emotions come and go. They are here to guide you to the most aligned timing for your decisions. When you wait until you are emotionally neutral to make a decision, you’re able to most clearly tune into the right decision for you. It’s important not to try to change your emotions, but to observe them and let them pass. Let them guide you to rest (when you’re feeling low), to work/play (when you’re feeling high), and make decisions when you’re feeling neutral. If you are a Generator or MG, wait until you are emotionally neutral, then tune into your Sacral center & make a decision based on whether something excites you or not (you can read the Sacral Authority summary for how to do this). If you are a Projector or Manifestor, wait until you are emotionally neutral, then tune into what just feels/sounds inexplicably correct for you (you can drop your chart in the HD HQ 21 Day Challenge Daily Check In Chat if you want to know what your secondary authority is and I’ll let you know).

Sacral Authority

Your Sacral center is always responding to things (this usually translates as a gut feeling). Your job is to listen to it and let it guide your decisions based on whether you are excited by the prospect at hand or not. If you feel excited about something, go for it. If you don’t feel excited about something, don’t go for it. This is so simple to do in theory, but so challenging to trust in practice because it’s so simple. But it really does get to be that easy for you. You can also ask yourself yes/no or either/or questions to get clear on a decision (your Sacral often doesn’t respond clearly to open-ended questions).

Splenic Authority

You have a deep, intuitive sense of what is right - or not - for you. It’s always guiding you, but can be a subtle, quiet voice. It’s always trying to guide you away from what isn’t right/healthy/safe for you and toward what is. Your splenic intuition speaks to you in the moment. Trust your inner-knowing. When you get a good feeling from something (or a strange/bad feeling), or you inexplicably know that something is right (or wrong) for you, or something feels good (or icky) pay attention to that and honor it.

Heart/Ego Authority

You’re meant to be making decisions purely based off of what YOU want. When you follow what you desire (or what motivates you), you’ll make the best decisions for yourself and - as a byproduct - for others around you. If your heart isn’t in something, it isn’t for you. If you’re motivated by it or truly desire it, then act on it. Many people call this being “selfish”, but for you it isn’t selfish. In fact, it’s aligned for you to operate in this way.

G-Center/Self-Projected Authority

You have a deep inner-knowing of who you are and what you want and what the right decision in any situation is. But, in order to uncover that deep inner-knowing, you often need to process the situation at hand. When making a decision, talk through it if possible (use someone else as a sounding board - you don’t need their input, just someone to bounce things off of, or talk outloud to yourself, or even journal). Get your thought process out of your head and keep talking it out until you hit your “aha!” moment when you finally feel clarity. That’s when you know you’ve hit on the right decision.

Mental/No Inner Authority

You’re part of the 2% of the population who is meant to use logic to make decisions. However, you’re not meant to go off of other people’s logic. Rather, you’re meant to examine all the data for the decision at hand, then go with whatever makes the most logical sense TO YOU. Remember, as much as we deny it, logic is somewhat subjective in nature because no two people see the world exactly the same way. So don’t worry about what others say you SHOULD do. Figure out what makes the most logical sense for you.

Lunar Authority

As a Reflector, you are tied to the lunar cycle. As the moon transits through each of the 28 gates over the course of a month, you take on the energies of each of those gates. That means that by the time you reach the end of a month, you will have experienced so many different perspectives and energies around any situation that you need to make a decision on. And in going through that journey, you will easily and intuitively know what the right decision is. Wait up to 28 days (until you feel you have clarity) to make a big decision. And for smaller decisions, go with whatever feels best to you in whatever energy you’re in at the moment.
